Françoise
Devroede has studied the ancient art of
high-wrap tapestry (*) and graduated from
one of the few remaining schools in Europe
still teaching this ancestral craft,
dating back as far as the 14th century.
(*) Tapisserie de
Haute Lice, as it is still performed in
the traditional way in a few prestigeous
places in Belgium and France, such as
the Manufacture des Gobelins,
Aubusson, etc..
For the past
35 years, Françoise Devroede has been
creating highly recognized works of art of
modern inspiration, hand-made in the
genuine ancestral tradition of this craft.
Her wall tapestries have been shown in
many exhibitions in Europe and the USA.
Françoise
Devroede is a member of Domaine
de la Lice, the renowned
Belgian association of recognized and
certified wall tapestry artists.
